About Me
Gerardo “Jerry” Morales has proudly served Maverick County since 2013 as Commissioner for Precinct 1, earning the trust of voters through repeated re-elections in 2014, 2016, 2020, and 2024. During his tenure, he helped guide the county from financial deficits into a balanced budget and surplus, laying the groundwork for sustainable community investment. Jerry has delivered real improvements in infrastructure and neighborhood safety, including the installation of over 100 streetlights, yearly road paving projects, and the development of parks such as VFW Park and Lopetegui Park. Known for his transparency and advocacy, he has consistently stood up for taxpayer rights and community fairness. Now running for Maverick County Judge, Jerry is committed to bringing accountable, people-first leadership to every precinct in the county.
IMPACT
I – Infrastructure Equality
Every colonia, neighborhood, and subdivision deserves the same level of attention and investment. Roads, drainage, and basic services should not depend on who you know. As County Judge, I will ensure fairness, not favoritism. Needs in every Colonia are different, I will make sure that each commissioner receives the fair amount of funding for all their precinct needs. I will never retaliate against 1 precinct, and remove funding like it happened to Pct. 1 under the current administration.
M – Maverick County Employees First
Our employees are the backbone of local government. A strong county starts with strong employees who feel valued. They deserve respect, stability, and proper tools to serve the community. We cannot have an administration that keeps putting our employees at risk. Our employees health insurance should not be cancelled for lack of payment . That’s completely unacceptable. Our employees should not have to worry if administration will approve Longevity Pay or End of Year bonus like most of us know it. We cannot have an administration that targets county employees for exercising 1st amendment rights. We cannot have an administration that decides to terminate employees because they af iliate or support his opponent. Maverick County Employees will be treated with respect and dignity. under what I like to call the peoples administration. The Residents should dictate how we administer.
P – Puerto Verde
Any major project especially one as large as Puerto Verde must be transparent, honest, and accountable. No more secrets, no more confusion, and deinitely no more deals made in the dark. No more contracts behind closed doors. You know the presidential permit was awarded to Maverick County and under the current administration, No contract has yet to be shown to the community. Our community should be completely informed and involved. The 3rd bridge for Maverick County is a life changing project. My position has always been the same on this project. Build it where it makes common sense to build it. We have an engineering study that shows where it should go. I will not allow a project regardless of the size to disrupt our community and take advantage of them.
A – Accountability & Transparency
We will open the books,…..The Maverick County books for the 1st time in history will be opened to every resident in Maverick County. If a resident wants to know how his taxpayer dollars are spent, we owe it to them to provide any document they need. The Who, When, Why, Where, and How will be answered to every resident in Maverick County. This type of full transparency will restore integrity, and return government to the people.
C – Community EMS
Strengthening EMS staf ing, equipment, and response times will be a top priority. When we call 911 every second matters. The agreements that we currently have rely on the City of Eagle Pass. I take the time to thank the City of Eagle Pass for working with us. Every 3-4 years we ind ourselves in the same situation with the City of Eagle Pass. We currently owe the city $1.5 Million. A contract in place for $2.7 Million and the budget was only allocated $1.2 Million. We cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Our County is large and we need emergency services closer to our colonias. At the current time we do not have a station or sub-station within our Colonias. This has to change. We need to ind the way to have better services for our residents and better response times. Together we will ind the best solution for Maverick County.
T – Trust in Local Government
This is the most important one. Trust. Because without trust, nothing else works. Because corruption doesn’t just steal money — it steals hope., And it’s time to get that hope back.
